Nobody
know how our world came to existence. We assume The Unknown created Regendia,
gods we only know by that name. They never gave us their names, only sent three
avatars to deliver guidance, and oversee the world we so hold dear. The Three
are revered by all races, some even think they are the gods themselves. They
came into our world when the races were in great peril, in a destructive war
that reshaped our world for good. The
Three brought a relative peace, aiding the races in rebuilding Regendia as the
magical realm it is today. The Avatars were seen as great beings that helped us
thrive, learn from our mistakes, yet, they never showed us their faces. They
gave us three virtues, willpower, wisdom and hope. Each Avatar represents one
of these virtues.
Arctorus
The Colossus was the leader of the avatars. He stands for innovation,
willpower, might and glory. Often depicted as a giant warrior in plate, a
closed helmet with a visor that shows the eyes filled with willpower. Arctorus
was not only a warrior, but a builder as well. With his hammer, Gavsmet he bent
the metals of Regendia to his will, only to create mighty weapons and armor,
now lost in time. He aided in the repairs of cities, villages, and landscapes.
Aswald
The Mage was the second of The Three. He was a wanderer, a crone, yet the
wisest of them all. Covering himself in a simple dress of cloth, and a hooded
cloak, he taught us magic. His knowledge was infinite and he didn’t only give
us magic, but the sense of morality and the pursuit of knowledge as well. With
his staff, Potenco, and his tome, Sago, he was unbeatable. Throwing spells at
his enemies, or defeating them with games of the mind, Aswald The Mage could do
it all.
Lastly
we have Aina The Beauty. The third Avatar and the Avatar of beauty and hope.
She came to us to taught us the meaning of the word ‘hope’, because during the
days of the War of Destruction, there was none. Everyone was scared, everyone
feared they were next in line to be killed. Aina told us that there was always
hope, no matter how dark the days grow, there is always a speck of light in the
skies. The Beauty was always seen in rather scarce clothing, covering her body
with the finest of silks, long scarfs dancing around her. A mask covering her
beautiful face from chin to nose. She wasn’t only the pretty addition to this
group, no, she was powerful, casting illusions on her foes. Illusions that made
them fall madly in love with her, doing everything The Beauty orders. Aina
taught us only a fraction of her power. She wielded no weapons, weaving her
spells with potions or with her bare hands. She was the most peaceful of the
three, more focused on aiding the races, than kill them to end the war.
The
Three gave us much, yet, they kept certain things from us. The names of the
gods, for we know they are many, have never been said out loud. We know there
are more, because The Three always talked about more. They talked about many,
from heavens to underworld. Their assignment was enlighten us, guide us, but to
keep the gods on the side lines, because they were simply too great to
comprehend. They were the ones that were created and chosen for a mission,
because The Unknown knew that Regendia was on the brink of destruction. After
decades of war and rebuilding, the Avatars taught us everything they were
allowed to teach, and they rose up, back to the skies, back to their homes. Telling
us they might come back one day, but for now keeping a watchful eye on the
world.
Scriptures
of the War of Destruction are non-existent, the only knowledge we have of it is
told to us via legends and myths. Legends and myths telling the tales of
heroes, paying homage to the Avatars. The thing we know about the War of
Destruction is that the war was one of primordial power. Nobody could control
their might, the races were young, unskilled, naïve. Wars broke out constantly
and caused much grief and destruction, like any other war. But it was the power
of certain individuals that reshaped Regendia into a barren wasteland. These
individuals were stopped by the heroes of old, alongside The Three. The end of
the war brought a time of relative peace, where the Avatars rebuilt, alongside
the races and people of Regendia. Embittered by their loss, they cast away the
help of The Three and went their own separate way, trying to bring chaos, once
they were healed and found their new homeland.
This was
the creation of the known world, the new world.
